Master Craftsman
Huan Ngo is the only man left in the workshop who still uses a hand saw for the very first cut - not because he doesn’t know how to use the machines, but because, as he puts it, “machines don’t know respect.”

Handcrafted Wooden Floor Lamp With Open Cage Design
This is not a lampshade on a pole. The entire body of this wooden floor lamp is the light source itself. Curved driftwood slats arc upward from a round base, bow outward at the middle, and taper back together at a pointed finial on top. A warm bulb hangs inside on a braided fabric cord, visible through every gap between the slats. The filament glow passes between and across the wood, casting long vertical stripes of light and shadow on the floor, the wall, and the bed beside it.
What Makes This Driftwood Floor Lamp Different
Each slat is a separate piece of solid driftwood, selected for its natural curve and grain character. Not machine-bent from fresh lumber. Shaped by hand from aged driftwood that already carries the tonal variation, surface texture, and subtle warping that comes from years of weather exposure. The color ranges from warm honey to deep walnut brown within a single slat, and no two slats in the same lamp share identical grain patterns.
The cage form is completely open. No shade, no diffuser, no frosted glass between the bulb and the room. Light passes freely through the gaps, projecting elongated stripes of warm amber across nearby surfaces. The stripes shift as you move around the lamp because each slat sits at a slightly different angle. Walk past and the light pattern on the wall rotates with you.
Real Driftwood, Not Imitation
Each slat is sanded smooth on the outer face and left slightly rougher on the inside, where the bulb light catches the grain in sharper relief. Some slats lean toward a warm caramel tone, others toward a cooler grey-brown. Our artisans group slats with complementary tones for each wooden floor lamp, creating a gradient effect that circles the cage.
The round base is turned from the same driftwood stock. A satin finish protects the wood without adding gloss. Over time, the driftwood develops a deeper patina. Slats exposed to more room light may shift tone faster than those facing the wall. That gradual, uneven aging adds character.
Warm Ambient Light
One bulb hangs from a braided fabric cord inside the cage. The light output is ambient, not directional. It fills a bedroom corner or living room seating area with enough warm light to set the mood for the evening without overpowering the room. A single braided cord exits the base to a wall plug with an inline switch.
Where to Place This Driftwood Floor Lamp
Beside a bed is where this standing light feels most at home. The cage height puts the bulb at roughly pillow level when you are lying down, casting warm light across the bedding without glaring into your eyes.
Other strong positions:
- Beside a sofa or in a reading nook
- Flanking an entryway as a pair
- In a spa, hotel room, or resort lounge where the driftwood texture reinforces a coastal or natural aesthetic
The open cage design looks good from every angle. Place it freestanding, away from the wall, and the light stripes project in all directions. Push it against a wall and the stripes concentrate on one side for a stronger pattern.
Good to Know
- Dust collects where the slats bow outward. A feather duster or soft brush handles it. Compressed air works for the inner faces.
- Keep small children and pets from reaching inside while the bulb is hot.
- Dry indoor use only. Not suitable for bathrooms or outdoor porches.
- The bulb is standard and user-replaceable through the widest gap between slats.

- Always set your furniture on a level surface to preserve its balance and structure.
Cleaning & Upkeep
- Regularly wipe down your furniture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as these can ruin the finish and damage the wood.
Weight Capacity & Use

- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.

50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
