Artist Huan Ngo

“Every piece of wood was once standing in a forest older than anything in the room it will end up in. I try to be worthy of that.”

Huan Ngo is the only man left in the workshop who still uses a hand saw for the very first cut - not because he doesn’t know how to use the machines, but because, as he puts it, “machines don’t know respect.”

He specializes in solid teak and driftwood, and he treats every slab like it’s got a story older than all of us combined. One time, he even turned down an order because he felt the wood “wasn’t ready yet.” The customer had to wait another three weeks.

Nobody complained once they saw the finished piece.
