Collection FAQ

Tree Coat Racks FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for this collection.

What is a tree coat rack?

A tree coat rack is a coat hanger designed to look like a natural tree - with a solid wood trunk and branch-like hooks for hanging coats, hats, bags, and scarves. Available as freestanding or wall-mounted units. Ashdeco's are handcrafted from real solid wood and driftwood branches, so each piece has a unique silhouette.

Tree coat rack vs regular coat rack?

Regular coat racks use straight metal or wooden pegs on a simple pole. Tree coat racks use actual tree-shaped branches as hooks - creating an organic, sculptural look that serves as décor even when nothing is hanging.

What types does Ashdeco offer?

Three styles: standing floor units (no mounting needed), wall-mounted branch sections (horizontal with hooks), and hanging branch racks (suspended from ceiling/wall for a floating clothes rack effect). All in various sizes and wood tones.

Where should I put it?

Entryways/mudrooms (most popular), bedrooms for daily outfits, hallways for guest coats, home offices, kids' rooms at child-friendly heights. Standing models for open areas, wall-mounted for tight hallways.

What wood types?

Walnut, teak (moisture resistant - great for entryways), acacia, saman samanea and oak. Many designs incorporate natural driftwood branches. All solid wood - never MDF, particle board, or plastic.

How much weight?

Standing: 30-50 lbs total. Individual hooks: 5-10 lbs each. Wall-mounted gains extra strength from wall studs. Wide bases prevent tipping.

How to install wall-mounted?

Ships with screws, drywall anchors, instructions. Mount at 50-60" for adults, 36-42" for kids. Drill into studs. Takes 15-20 minutes. Standing models = no install, just place.

Are they stable/tip-proof?

Yes. Weighted/wide-spread bases, solid wood heft. Some include wall anchor straps. Wall-mounted = inherently tip-proof. Spread items across branches rather than overloading one side.

Can I customize?

Height (48" to 72"+), number of hooks, wood species, finish tone, hook angles and spacing. Email support@ashdeco.com for bespoke designs.

Tree coat rack vs tree bookshelf?

Coat racks = hooks/pegs to hang items from the side. Tree bookshelves = flat shelves to hold items on top. Pair both in entryway: coat rack for outerwear, standing tree bookshelf or wall tree bookshelf for display.

Small entryways?

Standing: just 12-18" diameter base, 6-10 hanging points upward. Wall-mounted: zero floor space. Ideal for apartments and narrow hallways where a coat closet isn't available.

How to care?

Dust weekly. Wipe moisture from damp coats promptly. Avoid heating vents and direct sunlight. Wood oil or beeswax every 6-12 months. Last for decades.
