Chris Wu
Master Craftsman
Chris Wu handles most of the custom-size orders at Ashdeco - the strange ones, the complicated ones, the “are we even sure this can work?” kind of projects. Crooked walls, awkward corners, unusual dimensions, sketches drawn on napkins… somehow, those jobs usually end up on his workbench.

Some furniture you buy. Some furniture you encounter. This mushroom coffee table belongs to the second kind - a piece that stops conversation, invites touch, and makes every room it enters feel like it was always meant to have it. Carved from a single solid-wood slab, it takes the form of a forest mushroom scaled to the human world: a wide, generous live edge round top, a hand-carved ribbed cap underside, and a solid cylindrical pedestal base that rises from the floor with quiet, unhurried confidence.
Made entirely by hand by our Vietnamese artisans, no two pieces share the same grain pattern, the same edge, or the same story. This is not a reproduction. It is a single object, made once, for one home.

👉 Wide Live Edge Round Top
The tabletop is carved from a solid-wood slab and shaped into a generous round form - not a perfect geometric circle, but an organic near-round that follows the natural edge of the wood. The perimeter retains its live edge character: slightly uneven, gently undulating, entirely natural. Large enough for a coffee book, a tray, candles, a plant, and a remote - all at once.
👉 Hand-Carved Ribbed Cap Underside
Turn the table over and you will find the signature detail: fine radiating ribs carved by hand along the full underside of the cap, exactly replicating the gill structure of a real mushroom. From below - on the floor, looking up - the table is as beautiful as from above. A detail that exists purely for the love of craft.
👉 Solid Cylindrical Pedestal Base
The base is a full-bodied cylindrical trunk - wide, stable, and carved from the same solid wood as the top. The grain flows continuously from base to cap, as if the whole piece grew as one. The natural burls, fissures, and color variation in the base wood are preserved and celebrated - no two bases are ever alike.
👉 One-Piece Sculptural Construction
The top and base are carved from a single connected solid-wood section - no joints, no lamination, no fasteners. The structural and visual integrity is absolute. This piece will outlast every other item in the room.
👉 Warm Hand-Oiled Finish
A natural oil finish is hand-applied to deepen the grain, protect the surface, and leave a warm, smooth, tactile feel underhand. Not a lacquer - not a plastic shine. Just wood at its most honest and beautiful.
👉 Versatile Across Styles
The mushroom form translates effortlessly across interior styles - a grounding presence in a Japandi room, a whimsical centerpiece in a boho space, a sculptural contrast in a minimal white interior. It works as a coffee table, an oversized side table, a plant stand, or a standalone sculptural accent. Use it however your space demands.
👉 No Assembly Required
The piece arrives complete and ready to place. No tools, no hardware, no instructions needed - simply set it down and it is done.
👉 Fully Customizable
Top diameter, table height, base diameter, wood species, and finish tone are all adjustable. Contact us with your space and we will create the right mushroom for it.
Furniture Placement
- Position your furniture away from direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce sun exposure.
- Always set your furniture on a level surface to preserve its balance and structure.
Cleaning & Upkeep
- Regularly wipe down your furniture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as these can ruin the finish and damage the wood.
Weight Capacity & Use
- Respect the recommended weight limit for each piece to ensure its durability.
- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.
- In areas with high humidity, use a dehumidifier to maintain an ideal moisture balance.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
