Everything you need to know
Detailed information about this piece — tap a section to expand.
Eight mushroom cap shelves arranged in four symmetrical tiers grow from a central bark trunk mounted on your wall. Each tier has one cap reaching left and one reaching right, creating a balanced tree silhouette that holds books on both sides. At the very top, one wide crown cap stretches across the full width, finishing the shape the way the canopy finishes a tree.
The trunk runs vertical through the center with carved bark texture showing vertical grain lines, knot holes, and natural surface cracks from top to bottom. At the base, the trunk thickens into a gnarled root form that anchors the visual weight of the piece. Every cap is sanded smooth on top for stable book placement and features deep gill carving along the front-facing edge where each shelf meets the room.
Our Vietnamese artisans shape this entire piece from solid wood. The trunk, every branch arm, all eight caps, and the root base section are carved from the same block of hardwood. The grain follows natural paths from trunk into branches and outward across each cap surface.

Four tiers of paired book shelves
Books stand upright on each cap, leaning gently toward the trunk. Each tier holds a separate row of books on the left and a separate row on the right. The bottom tier carries the most weight: heavy art books, thick hardcovers, reference volumes. The middle tiers hold standard novels, journals, and medium-format books. The top tier below the crown holds smaller paperbacks or display books with their covers facing outward. Estimated total capacity across all tiers: 40 to 50 books depending on spine thickness.
Wide crown cap
The topmost shelf stretches beyond the paired tiers below it, spanning the full width of the piece. Its surface curves gently upward at the edges like a real mushroom cap, and the front edge features the deepest gill carving on the entire bookshelf. The crown is the visual capstone of the piece. Place a trailing plant, a sculptural object, or a row of your most displayed books across the top.
Deep gill carving on every shelf
The gill lines on this piece are carved deeper and wider than on smaller mushroom shelves. On the crown cap alone, the gill pattern contains dozens of individual lines fanning from the trunk attachment outward to the wavy rim. Each line casts its own shadow. Walk past the bookshelf and the shadow pattern shifts as your viewing angle changes.
Bark trunk centerpiece
The trunk is not hidden behind the books. It runs exposed through the center of every tier, visible between the left and right cap pairs. The bark texture, vertical grain, and knot details give the piece a raw, organic spine that contrasts with the smooth polished cap surfaces on either side.

What sets this apart
Wall bookshelves come in planks and boxes. This one comes in mushroom caps growing from a bark trunk. The symmetrical paired layout holds books in organized rows while the gill carving, crown cap, and bark texture turn the whole unit into wall sculpture. Every shelf is functional. Every detail is hand-carved. The result is a bookcase that strangers stop and ask about.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
