Two mushroom caps glow beside the bed, warm and amber, their wood grain visible through the thin-turned surfaces like the veins on a leaf held up to the sun. The bark trunk between them is dark and rough, cracked and ridged, still carrying the lichen scars and knot bumps from years of growing in a forest. The upper cap spreads wide near the ceiling, filling the room with soft ambient light. The lower cap angles toward the pillow, casting a closer, warmer pool of reading light across the linen duvet and the open book. A man lies on his side beneath them, reading by mushroom light.
Bark-On Tree Trunk
The trunk is a full section of tree with the bark left intact. The surface is dark grey-brown to charcoal, deeply ridged with vertical cracks, rough lichen patches, and the dense, fibrous texture of mature bark. Knot bumps mark the spots where small branches once grew. The bark is cleaned, treated against insects and moisture, and sealed with a clear protective coat that preserves its raw appearance without softening it. Beneath the bark, solid heartwood provides structural strength. The trunk is kiln-dried from the inside to stabilize the wood while keeping the bark shell attached and secure.
Two natural branches extend from the trunk at different heights, one at roughly four-fifths of the total height and one at roughly half. Both branches grew as part of the original tree and are cut to short stubs that angle outward and slightly upward. The upper branch reaches to the left. The lower branch reaches to the right. The bark continues along both branch stubs, tying them visually to the main trunk.
Two Translucent Glowing Caps
Both caps are turned from solid wood on a lathe until the walls are 3 to 5 millimeters thin. At that thickness, the wood becomes translucent. When the internal LEDs turn on, warm light passes through the wood fibers, revealing the full grain pattern from the outside: cathedral arches, flowing color bands from pale cream to golden honey, and tiny mineral streaks that glow like threads of copper. The entire surface of each cap glows warm amber from every angle, not just from below.
The upper cap is a wide parasol shape, spreading outward from its branch with a gentle downward curve at the rim. It provides broad, room-filling ambient light. The lower cap is smaller and more bell-shaped, curving inward more steeply at the rim and directing its glow in a tighter, warmer pool toward the bed. Both caps are polished smooth on the outside with a warm honey-gold tone that contrasts sharply with the dark, rough bark below. Both caps dim independently.
Set the upper cap to full brightness for warm room light during the evening. Dim it to its lowest setting for a golden background glow while you sleep. Turn on the lower cap for bedside reading. Turn both off and the bark trunk stands dark and sculptural in the corner.
Metal Plate Base
The base is a flat black metal plate, square with slightly rounded corners. The matte black surface provides a clean, modern contrast to the organic bark trunk above. The metal is thick and heavy, creating a low center of gravity that stabilizes the tall trunk and two extended caps. The plate sits flat on the floor with rubber feet at each corner that protect the hardwood underneath and prevent sliding. A black braided cloth cord exits from the back of the base.

Placement
Built for a bedroom beside the bed as your primary evening light and reading lamp, a guest bedroom, a loft apartment, or a meditation room where the warm through-wood glow creates a calming, organic atmosphere. The dark bark trunk and glowing amber caps create the feeling of a forest at dusk, where the last warm light catches the mushrooms growing from a fallen tree. The dual caps replace a bedside table lamp and a room ambient lamp in a single sculptural piece.
Care
Wipe caps gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. The translucent wood is thin and should be handled carefully. Reapply wood oil on caps once a year. Dust bark trunk with a soft dry brush. Bark may shed tiny particles during the first few weeks, which is normal. After settling, the sealed surface is stable. Wipe the metal base with a dry cloth. LED components need no maintenance. Avoid excessive moisture.
Handcrafted by Vietnamese artisans. The bark-on trunk is sourced from sustainably harvested trees and selected by hand for bark integrity, dual branch placement, and overall form. Both caps are turned on a lathe from select-grade wood blocks with zero defects. Turning wood to translucent thickness carries a high failure rate. No molds. No CNC machines. No two lamps will ever look the same.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.

How long until my piece arrives?

Shipping itself is quick: 5 to 7 business days once your piece leaves our workshop. Most of the time goes into crafting your piece and your photo approval. We craft your piece, send you photos to approve, and ship it after you approve. Crafting and approval usually take 7 to 14 business days, so the estimated total is 12 to 21 business days. A slow photo approval can extend this. During holidays or busy periods it may take longer, and if there is a significant delay we will email you. All shipments include tracking and insurance.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. We offer free shipping on all orders.

How long does a commission take?

4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.

How do I take care of my wood piece?

Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.

What if my piece develops cracks?

Wood expands and contracts with humidity. Minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.

Can I return a piece?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if your piece has a manufacturer defect or was damaged in shipping. To start, email support@ashdeco.com with your order number and the reason. For defective, damaged or incorrect items we send a prepaid return label and cover return shipping. Once we receive and inspect the returned piece, we send a replacement or a refund. Refunds are processed within 2 business days after we receive your return. Custom or personalized pieces cannot be returned. See our full Refund Policy for exchanges and other details.
