A smooth wooden mushroom stands between your credenza and your reading chair, its wide dome cap glowing warm amber from within. The grain of the wood is visible through the cap itself, flowing in cathedral arcs across the illuminated surface like rivers on a topographic map seen from above. The tapered stem rises from a round disc base, wider at the bottom and narrower at the center, then flaring where it meets the underside of the cap. Every surface is turned, sanded, and polished to a seamless satin. No bark. No knots. No rough texture. Just warm wood, clean curves, and golden light.
Translucent Glowing Dome Cap
The cap is a wide, deep half-dome turned from a single block of carefully selected solid wood and thinned across its entire surface to 3-5mm. At this thickness, the built-in LED array inside illuminates the wood from within, turning the grain into a glowing map of flowing amber lines, cathedral arcs, and warm golden fields. The translucency is even across the entire dome because the wall thickness is controlled to sub-millimeter precision during turning. Dark grain lines appear as warm contour shadows. Lighter sapwood zones glow brighter. The effect changes throughout the evening as the dimmer moves from full brightness to a soft golden night glow.
The cap has no gill carving. The light comes through the wood itself, diffused and softened by the grain, creating an even, warm ambient glow without visible rays or hot spots. This is the only cap in the mushroom collection designed for pure diffusion rather than directional gill projection.
Tapered Turned Stem
The stem is turned on a lathe from a single block of matched solid wood. The profile follows a concave taper, wider at the base, narrowing to a slender waist at mid-height, then flaring outward where it joins the underside of the cap. The curve is continuous and mathematically smooth, with no flat spots, steps, or visible tool marks. The grain runs vertically through the stem, showing tight, flowing lines that echo the cathedral patterns on the cap above. Small natural pin knots may appear on the stem surface, adding subtle character without disrupting the clean silhouette.
Round Disc Base
The base is a flat, round disc in the same wood as the stem, proportioned to balance the wide cap above. The disc is thick enough to provide stable weight but slim enough to maintain the lamp's clean, modern proportions. The edge is softly rounded. A felt pad protects the floor. The braided cloth cord exits from the back edge of the base, lying flat along the floor.

Placement
Built for a mid-century modern living room beside a credenza, a Scandinavian bedroom reading corner, a Japandi-styled open-plan space, or a designer apartment where every piece of furniture is curated. The clean lines, warm glow, and pure wood grain appeal to interior designers, architects, and collectors of handcrafted design objects. Place beside a bouclé armchair on a Persian or kilim rug for the definitive MCM composition.
Care
Wipe the cap gently with a soft dry cloth. Reapply wood oil once a year using a light, even hand on the thinned cap surface. Dust the stem and base with a soft cloth. The translucent cap is structurally sealed but should be treated as a precision wood piece. LED components need no maintenance. Avoid excessive moisture, direct sunlight, and impact.
Handcrafted by Vietnamese artisans. The stem is turned from a single block of kiln-dried solid wood. The translucent cap is turned thin enough to glow while maintaining structural integrity, a process that takes hours of careful lathe work per piece. The rejection rate for caps at this diameter and thinness is the highest in the collection. No molds. No CNC machines. No two lamps will ever look the same.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.

How long until my piece arrives?

Shipping itself is quick: 5 to 7 business days once your piece leaves our workshop. Most of the time goes into crafting your piece and your photo approval. We craft your piece, send you photos to approve, and ship it after you approve. Crafting and approval usually take 7 to 14 business days, so the estimated total is 12 to 21 business days. A slow photo approval can extend this. During holidays or busy periods it may take longer, and if there is a significant delay we will email you. All shipments include tracking and insurance.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. We offer free shipping on all orders.

How long does a commission take?

4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.

How do I take care of my wood piece?

Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.

What if my piece develops cracks?

Wood expands and contracts with humidity. Minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.

Can I return a piece?

Yes, within 30 days of delivery if your piece has a manufacturer defect or was damaged in shipping. To start, email support@ashdeco.com with your order number and the reason. For defective, damaged or incorrect items we send a prepaid return label and cover return shipping. Once we receive and inspect the returned piece, we send a replacement or a refund. Refunds are processed within 2 business days after we receive your return. Custom or personalized pieces cannot be returned. See our full Refund Policy for exchanges and other details.
