Collection FAQ

Desk FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for this collection.

What types of desks does Ashdeco offer?

Two main categories: floating desks - wall-mounted, no legs, perfect for small spaces - and traditional desks - freestanding with legs, ideal for full-featured home offices. Within these: live edge writing desks, mid-century modern with brass accents, L-shaped corner desks, epoxy resin river desks, minimalist Scandinavian desks, and floating shelf desk combos. All handcrafted from solid hardwood.

Floating desk vs traditional desk?

Floating = wall-mounted, zero floor footprint, best for small rooms and studio apartments. Traditional = freestanding, more surface area, built-in drawers, can move freely. Under 100 sq ft → floating. Dedicated home office → traditional.

What is a live edge desk?

A top cut from a natural wood slab preserving the organic outer contour of the tree - unique curves, bark traces, knots. No two look the same. Ashdeco's signature style, available in both floating and traditional formats.

What wood types?

Walnut, oak, teak, acacia, rubber wood - all solid hardwood with protective sealant. Never MDF, particle board, veneer, or laminate.

What sizes?

Floating: 24"-60" wide, 14"-22" deep. Traditional: 36"-72" wide, 22"-30" deep. L-shaped and conference tables go larger. Mount floating at 28"-30" (sitting) or 38"-42" (standing). Custom sizing available.

How much weight?

Floating: 80-150 lbs (wall-mounted into studs). Traditional: 100-200+ lbs. Both handle laptops, monitors, and daily supplies. Solid wood won't sag over time.

Do they have storage?

Several models include drawers, open shelves, or shelf combos. Pair with wall floating shelves, corner floating shelves, or tree bookshelf for more.

What is an epoxy resin desk?

A live edge slab with a river of colored/clear resin poured through the center - polished glass-smooth, waterproof, scratch-resistant. Food-grade epoxy on genuine solid wood. One-of-a-kind art desk. Available in traditional desk collection.

How to install floating desk?

Ships with brackets, lag screws, anchors, instructions. Find 2+ studs → level → drill → secure → lift into place. 30-60 minutes. Traditional desks = no install, just position and work.

Can floating desk be a standing desk?

Yes. Mount at 38"-42" for standing height. Some customers mount two at different heights for dual sit/stand workspace.

How to care?

Dust weekly. Desk mat to prevent scratches. Wipe spills immediately. Avoid direct sunlight. Wood oil every 6-12 months. Epoxy: mild soap only. Lasts for generations.

Ashdeco vs mass-produced?

Mass-produced = MDF/printed laminate, sags, can't be refinished. Ashdeco = 100% solid hardwood, genuine live edge, real joinery, hand-poured epoxy, brass hardware. Handcrafted by Vietnamese artisans. Built to last decades.
