Dien Luc
Master Craftsman
Dien Luc grew up in the mountains of Nghe An, where wood wasn’t just a material - it was part of everyday language. He became known in the workshop for working with slabs full of knots, wild grain, and unpredictable patterns - the exact pieces most craftsmen quietly push to the side and hope someone else deals with.

The Leaf Is the Absence of Wood
A vase-shaped column of solid driftwood stands in a gallery corner, swelling to a wide belly before tapering to a narrow neck beneath the linen shade. A large leaf pattern is carved through the front face, with a central midrib and branching veins cut clean through the wood wall. Warm amber light pours through every opening, projecting a leaf-shaped constellation of golden light across the floor. The leaf is not painted or applied. It is the absence of wood, and the light that fills that absence.
Carved by Hand. Every Cut.
This driftwood floor lamp is carved entirely by hand by our artisans in Vietnam. No CNC. No laser cutting. No factory molds. The artisan selects a single driftwood blank where the natural grain flows in the same direction as the branching veins, so wood fibers run continuously through each bridge rather than crossing at a weak angle. Finding that grain match, then carving ten precise openings through a curved wall without breaking a single vein bridge, is why each piece takes weeks to complete.
Five pairs of lateral veins branch outward from a thick central midrib, curving slightly upward toward the leaf outline. The spaces between veins are cut clean through the wood wall, creating ten distinct openings. The veins remain as solid wood bridges holding the structure together. Every cut negotiated with the grain. That is something no machine can replicate.
One Block. One Lamp. No Two Alike.
The entire body is carved from one solid block of driftwood. No glued joints. No composite panels. No MDF core with a veneer face. The outer surface carries dark walnut-brown tones with flowing cathedral grain from years of natural aging. The inner surfaces of the leaf cutout show lighter honey and golden caramel tones where the carving exposed protected heartwood.
Because every driftwood blank has different grain, different color balance, and different knot placement, no two finished lamps look the same. The leaf pattern on yours will not exist on any other piece.
Dark Frame, Bright Leaf
When the LED is on, the inner heartwood surfaces glow warm and bright. The leaf reads as a bright botanical silhouette framed by dark aged wood. When the light is off, it reads as a sculptural void with visible depth and shadow in every opening.
Two Light Layers
A warm LED strip lines the hollow core behind the leaf cutout. The tapered linen shade on top provides soft room light from above. The leaf cutout provides mid-height accent and pattern light from within. An inline dimmer controls both together. Full brightness for ambient light. Low dim for a sculptural accent piece that projects a warm leaf pattern across the floor.
Care and Placement
- Dry indoor use only. A climate-controlled gallery or living room is ideal.
- Dust the vein bridges with a soft brush or compressed air. Wipe the outer surface with a dry cloth.

- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
