Handcrafted Mushroom Bookshelf With Carved Gill Shelves
Seven mushroom-cap shelves spiral up a single carved trunk, each one wide enough to hold a short row of books, a trailing plant, or a collection of things you actually want people to see. The whole thing stands on its own. No wall mounting, no anchors, no drilling into your landlord's walls.
The trunk twists and branches the way real wood grows. Not symmetrical, not uniform. Every branch forks at its own angle to support a shelf, and the trunk surface carries carved bark texture from base to crown.
What Makes This Mushroom Shelf Different
Each mushroom shelf cap has carved gill lines running underneath, radiating from the stem outward. When you look up from below or walk past at eye level, you see the same radial pattern found on actual forest mushrooms. Most tree bookshelves on the market are flat planks bolted to a pole. This one is carved from solid wood by hand, and it looks like it.
The caps are flat on top with a gently upturned rim along the edge. That small lip keeps books and objects from sliding off without needing a visible rail. Functional detail disguised as design.
Built by Hand in Vietnam
Solid hardwood throughout. The trunk, branches, shelves, and base are all carved and assembled by our artisans. The base is a wide, rounded platform that keeps the structure stable on any flat floor. Each shelf supports 10 to 15 lbs depending on size.
Ships disassembled for safe delivery. Trunk sections, shelves, and base connect through a modular joint system. Assembly takes about 30 minutes with the included guide and hardware.
Where It Works
Living rooms, reading corners, bedrooms, offices, nurseries. Works as a room divider in open floor plans because it looks finished from every angle. The warm honey-amber wood tone pairs well with white walls, mid-century furniture, exposed brick, or darker accent walls.
Furniture Placement
- Position your furniture away from direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce sun exposure.
- Always set your furniture on a level surface to preserve its balance and structure.
Cleaning & Upkeep
- Regularly wipe down your furniture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as these can ruin the finish and damage the wood.
Weight Capacity & Use
- Respect the recommended weight limit for each piece to ensure its durability.
- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.
- In areas with high humidity, use a dehumidifier to maintain an ideal moisture balance.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
