Ashdeco desks are handcrafted from solid hardwood - walnut, oak, acacia, and reclaimed wood - by Vietnamese artisans. No particle board that dents when you set down a monitor. No veneer that peels when your wrist rests on the same spot for a year. Solid wood handles dual monitors, books, and a full espresso setup without flexing or sagging.

Our artisans work with each wood slab individually-following the natural grain, preserving live edges, matching the base to the character of that specific piece. The desk you receive has a grain pattern, edge profile, and color tone that exists nowhere else.

Solid wood develops a deeper patina over time. A well-maintained solid wood desk looks better at year 10 than the day it arrived. MDF looks worse after month 6.

Our most popular category. Natural outer edge preserved - organic curves, bark remnants, raw character paired with modern metal or wooden legs. Available as writing desks, full workstations, and conference tables.

b. Floating Wall-Mounted Desks

Wall-mounted, floor space completely free. Available with built-in drawers, shelf compartments, and matching floating shelves above. No legs = easier cleaning + room feels bigger. See our floating desk collection.

c. L-Shaped Corner Desks

Live edge L-shaped desks for corner placement - max workspace, min room impact. Two surfaces meet at natural angle: computer on one side, writing/drawing on the other. Seamless joinery at the corner.

d. Epoxy Resin Desks

Solid wood slabs with hand-poured epoxy resin rivers - natural wood meets translucent color. Each pour unique. Fully sealed and smooth-mouse glides perfectly across resin surface.

e. Mid-Century & Writing Desks

Clean lines, tapered legs, minimal ornamentation. Flat solid wood surface with a drawer or two. Perfect for bedrooms, libraries, quiet home offices.

3. How to Choose the Right Desk Size

a. Width

• Laptop only: 36"-48"
• Single monitor + keyboard: 48"-60" (sweet spot for most home offices)
• Dual monitors + accessories: 60"-72"
• L-shaped: 60"+ primary side, 48"+ return

b. Depth

• Writing/laptop: 20"-24"
• Monitor setup: 24"-30" (eyes need 20"+ from screen)
• Floating desk: 14"-20"

c. Height

• Standard seated: 28"-30"
• Standing: 38"-42"
• Floating: mount at whatever height suits you

• Shelving above: Floating shelves 12"-16" above desk. Keeps surface clear, everything within reach.

• Side storage: Console table beside desk for printer, files, extra monitors. Match wood tone.
• Lighting: Desk lamp 2700K-3000K, opposite your dominant hand to minimize shadows.
• Cable management: Route through desk back edge or adhesive clips along underside. Floating desks = cord cover down the wall.

5. Floating Desk vs. Freestanding

• Go floating if: Small room, want floor clear, minimalist look, desk doubles as vanity/craft station. Floating desk collection includes models with drawers + shelves.
• Go freestanding if: Need large surface (48"+), heavy equipment (dual monitors, printer), can't drill walls (renters), want option to move later.
Both built from same solid hardwood by same artisans. Difference = mounting method + surface area, not build quality.

6. Caring for Your Solid Wood Desk

• Daily: Coaster for drinks - water rings = #1 preventable issue. Wipe spills immediately.
• Weekly: Dust with dry microfiber cloth. No silicone/ammonia spray cleaners.
• Desk pad (recommended): Leather or felt pad protects surface under keyboard/mouse. Prevents wrist oils from darkening one spot.
• Every 6-12 months: Food-safe wood oil or wax. 15 minutes, visible difference.
• Scratches: Minor = fine steel wool (#0000) + oil. Deep = professional refinish. Solid wood's biggest advantage over veneer.
