3. How to Choose the Right Bookshelf Size

• Height: 48"-72" standard. 72"+ for high ceilings. 48"-60" for bedrooms/smaller rooms. Floating shelves = you control the height.
• Width: 24"-36" small spaces/corners. 36"-48" standard rooms. 48"+ for library walls.
• Depth: 10"-12" for most books. 14"-16" for coffee table/art books. Anything deeper than 16" = dead space behind books.
• Shelf spacing: 10"-12" standard books. 14"-16" oversized art books. Tree bookshelves have varied branch heights for natural flexibility.

4. Bookshelf Placement - Where It Works Best

• Living room focal wall: Sculptural or tree bookshelf as centerpiece. Flank with end tables + reading lamp.

5. How to Style a Bookshelf (Without It Looking Like a Mess)

• The 70/30 rule: Fill 70%, leave 30% breathing room. Overcrowded = storage. Curated = design.
• Mix books with objects: Alternate stacks of 3-5 books with plant, sculpture, photo. Vary heights.
• Horizontal + vertical: Some books standing, some stacked flat. Flat stacks = surfaces for small objects on top.
