Traditional Desk FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for this collection.

What is a traditional desk?

A traditional desk is a freestanding, floor-based work surface with legs or a full frame - the classic desk format for home offices and studies. Unlike wall-mounted floating desks, traditional desks stand on their own and can be placed anywhere. Ashdeco's traditional desks are handcrafted from solid hardwood with live edge tops, mid-century modern lines, and unique details like brass accents and epoxy resin inlays.

What types does Ashdeco offer?

Live edge writing desks with natural slab tops, mid-century modern desks with clean lines and brass accents, L-shaped corner desks for larger workspaces, conference tables for offices, epoxy resin desks with river-style inlays, and minimalist Scandinavian desks. All solid hardwood with real joinery - no flat-pack, no particle board.

Traditional desk vs floating desk?

Traditional = freestanding with legs, more surface area, built-in drawers/shelves, position anywhere. Floating desk = wall-mounted, no floor contact, saves space but needs wall studs. Traditional for full-featured workspace; floating for small spaces.

What sizes?

36"-42" writing desks (laptop-only) to 60"-72" workstations (multi-monitor). L-shaped for even larger setups. Depth: 22"-30". Height: 29"-30". Conference tables up to 96"+. Custom sizing available.

What is a live edge desk?

A top cut from a natural wood slab preserving the organic outer contour of the tree - unique curves, bark traces, character marks. Paired with metal hairpin legs, sculptural bases, or mid-century tapered legs. No two look the same. Ashdeco's signature style.

What wood types?

Walnut (rich dark tones), oak (classic strength), teak (naturally durable), acacia (dramatic two-tone grain), rubber wood (sustainable, light aesthetic). All solid hardwood with protective sealant. Never MDF, particle board, or laminate.

Do they have storage?

Several models include drawers (mid-century with brass/wooden pulls), open shelves beneath the desktop, or both. For more storage, pair with wall floating shelves or tree bookshelf.

What is an epoxy resin desk?

A live edge slab with a river of colored or clear resin poured through the center - translucent resin meets raw wood grain. Polished to glass-smooth finish, fully waterproof and scratch-resistant. Food-grade resin on genuine solid wood. Each piece is one-of-a-kind art.

How much weight?

100-200+ lbs depending on design. Metal-leg models sturdiest. Enough for multiple monitors, printer, books, and daily work. Solid wood won't sag or bow over time like MDF.

How to care?

Dust weekly with microfiber cloth. Use felt pads or desk mat to prevent scratches. Wipe spills immediately. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Apply wood oil or beeswax every 6-12 months. Epoxy surfaces: soft cloth with mild soap (naturally waterproof/scratch-resistant).

Cable management?

Some models have built-in cable grommets/holes. Otherwise: adhesive cable clips along back edge, under-desk cable tray, or desk-mount power strip. Open leg space = cables route cleanly to floor outlets.

What makes Ashdeco different from mass-produced?

Mass-produced = MDF/particle board with printed laminate, sag within a year, can't be refinished. Ashdeco = 100% solid hardwood, genuine live edge tops, real joinery, hand-poured epoxy resin, brass hardware. Handcrafted by Vietnamese artisans. Built to last decades.
