Huan Ngo
Master Craftsman
Huan Ngo is the only man left in the workshop who still uses a hand saw for the very first cut - not because he doesn’t know how to use the machines, but because, as he puts it, “machines don’t know respect.”

Everything you need to know
Detailed information about this piece — tap a section to expand.
This desk is built on a simple principle: real wood, clean lines, no compromises. The surface is solid timber - no veneer, no MDF, no printed grain - and you can tell from the weight, the warmth under your forearms, and the way the natural grain shifts across the board. Each piece carries its own pattern of color variation and wood character. No two desks are identical.
What Makes It Different
- Solid wood throughout: The desktop is cut from real timber with continuous, visible grain that flows naturally from edge to edge; this is the clearest proof of solid construction, as laminated surfaces always show repeating patterns.
- Clean, uncluttered design: No ornate carving, no hardware, no added decoration; the aesthetic relies entirely on the quality of the wood and the honesty of the joinery. What you see is what the material gives you.
- Warm natural tones: The wood has a medium-warm brown color with a matte to semi-matte finish that feels organic, not glossy or factory-treated. It pairs naturally with both modern and traditional interiors.
- Sturdy apron-base construction: Rather than thin individual legs, the desk uses a wider continuous base structure that provides stable support and a grounded visual presence. It doesn't wobble, and it doesn't look fragile.
- Handcrafted build: Each desk is shaped and finished by hand. Minor variations in the wood surface and edge treatment are the marks of real craftsmanship, not production flaws.
Placement
The compact proportions work well as a dedicated writing desk in a reading nook, a focused workspace in a bedroom, or a statement piece in a minimalist home office. The clean geometric profile and warm wood tones give it a sculptural quality - it reads as intentional furniture even when nothing sits on it. It fits naturally in Scandinavian-inspired spaces, mid-century rooms, or any interior that values material honesty over decoration.
Thickness & Construction
The desktop is milled to a standard thickness that balances structural rigidity with a clean visual profile - substantial enough to feel solid during use, proportioned to keep the overall silhouette light. If you need a heavier top for your workflow or prefer a more substantial feel, we can mill a thicker surface at additional material cost. Thinner profiles are also possible for tighter spaces.
Honest Notes
Because this desk is made from solid wood, it will respond to its environment - seasonal expansion and contraction with humidity changes is normal timber behavior. The finish protects against everyday use, but standing water should be wiped promptly and prolonged direct sunlight may shift the wood color over time. The desk is designed for focused individual work - writing, reading, laptop use - rather than as a large multi-monitor workstation. These are real characteristics of the material and design, not shortcomings.

Furniture Placement
- Position your furniture away from direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce sun exposure.
- Always set your furniture on a level surface to preserve its balance and structure.
Cleaning & Upkeep
- Regularly wipe down your furniture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as these can ruin the finish and damage the wood.
Weight Capacity & Use
- Respect the recommended weight limit for each piece to ensure its durability.
- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.
- In areas with high humidity, use a dehumidifier to maintain an ideal moisture balance.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
