End Tables FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for this collection.
What is an end table?
A small, compact table designed to sit beside a sofa, armchair, or bed-providing a convenient surface for lamps, drinks, books, remotes, and décor. Ashdeco's end tables are handcrafted from solid hardwood with live edge tops and sculptural tree root or branch bases, making each one a unique accent piece.
What types does Ashdeco offer?
Live edge end tables (natural slab tops), tree root end tables (sculptural root bases as functional art), round farmhouse end tables, multi-tier end tables (branch bases with extra display levels), and modern accent tables. All complement our coffee tables and console tables.
End table vs side table?
Essentially interchangeable terms. "End table" usually sits at the end of a sofa, "side table" can go anywhere beside furniture. The key is choosing the right height - table surface should be level with the sofa arm or mattress top.
What sizes?
16"-24" diameter/width, 18"-26" tall, 16"-20" deep. Height should match sofa arm (22"-26") or mattress top (24"-28"). Compact 16"-18" models for tight spaces. Custom sizing available.
What is a live edge end table?
A top cut from a natural wood slab or tree trunk cross-section ("tree cookie") preserving the organic outer contour - unique curves, bark traces, growth rings. No two look the same.
What is a tree root end table?
Uses a naturally formed tree root system as the base - sculpted, cleaned, and sealed while preserving the organic twisting shape. Topped with a live edge slab = pure functional art. Each root base is structurally unique.
What wood types?
Walnut, teak, acacia, oak - all sustainably sourced solid hardwood. Tree root bases often reclaimed from naturally fallen trees. All finished with protective sealant. Never MDF, particle board, or laminate.
Where to place?
Beside sofa, next to armchair or reading chair, beside bed as nightstand alternative, between two chairs, hallway/entryway. Multi-tier models work as plant stands or display pedestals. Compact enough for spaces that can't fit console tables or coffee tables.
How much weight?
30-60 lbs on tabletop. Enough for lamps, books, drinks, plants, and décor. Tree root bases are naturally heavy and stable with low center of gravity that resists tipping.
How to style?
Table lamp as anchor (adds height + ambient light). Add 1-2 smaller items: plant/vase, candle, framed photo, or decorative tray for remotes/coasters. Leave some wood surface visible so live edge and natural grain shine. Match with coffee table and floating shelves for cohesive look.
How to care?
Dust weekly. Coasters under drinks (important on live edge). Wipe spills immediately. Felt pads under lamps. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. Wood oil or beeswax every 6-12 months.
Ashdeco vs mass-produced?
Mass-produced = MDF/printed laminate, wobbly metal legs, generic design. Ashdeco = 100% solid hardwood, genuine live edge tops, hand-sculpted tree root bases by Vietnamese artisans. Real grain, real knots, real contours. Built to last generations.
