Everything you need to know
Detailed information about this piece — tap a section to expand.
No stem, no base plate, no visible mounting hardware. This sconce is a single half-sphere of solid wood that sits close to the wall with nothing else around it. From across the room, it looks like someone pressed half a wooden ball into the wall and lit it from the inside. The design works because of what it leaves out.
The dome is turned on a lathe from a thick block of solid wood. The outside is sanded to a smooth, continuous curve with the growth rings of the wood visible as concentric patterns across the surface. Every piece shows a different ring pattern depending on where the block was cut from the trunk. Some have tight, parallel lines. Others have wider, more irregular curves. That variation is built into the process.
The inside of the dome is where the detail work happens. Fine, evenly spaced grooves are carved in a radial pattern from the center outward, similar to the underside of a real mushroom cap. These grooves catch the light from the recessed bulb and scatter it downward in a wide, soft cone. The light hits the wall below the sconce and spreads across it evenly. Because the grooves are finer and more closely spaced than our other mushroom sconces, the light pattern is smoother and less striped.
A small rounded wood knob at the back connects the dome to the wall bracket. This knob is the only visible mounting element, and it sits recessed under the dome where it is barely noticeable from normal viewing angles. The electrical connection runs through this knob and into a standard junction box behind the wall. Hardwire installation is required.
The flush profile makes this sconce work in places where a protruding stem or backplate would feel too bulky. Narrow hallways, small bathrooms (dry areas near the mirror, not inside the shower zone), compact bedrooms, powder rooms, or along a gallery wall where you want the light to stay visually quiet. It also works well in pairs flanking a headboard or a mirror, since the simple shape creates symmetry without competing with what's between them.
The exterior finish is a low-sheen satin coat. It protects the wood and brings out the growth ring detail without adding gloss. The interior grooves have the same finish, which helps reflect light more effectively through the carved channels. Dust settles in the grooves over time. A soft brush or a quick burst of compressed air clears it out.
Solid wood is heavier than it looks in a dome this size. The larger versions need a secure wall mount into studs or heavy-duty anchors. Mounting hardware for both stud and drywall installation is included in the box.
The wood tone will warm and deepen gradually with age. The growth rings become more pronounced as the lighter and darker bands develop different patina rates. This is one of the benefits of solid wood over composite: the surface gets more interesting the longer you have it.
Dry indoor use only. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth. Avoid spraying cleaning products directly onto the wood. Keep away from steam, standing water, and prolonged direct sunlight.

Furniture Placement
- Position your furniture away from direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce sun exposure.
- Always set your furniture on a level surface to preserve its balance and structure.
Cleaning & Upkeep
- Regularly wipe down your furniture with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia, as these can ruin the finish and damage the wood.
Weight Capacity & Use
- Respect the recommended weight limit for each piece to ensure its durability.
- When moving furniture, lift it instead of dragging or pushing to prevent surface scratches or joint damage.
Preventing Mold & Mildew
- Quickly wipe up any spills to stop moisture from penetrating the wood.
- In areas with high humidity, use a dehumidifier to maintain an ideal moisture balance.

No two tables are ever the same
Every plank carries its own grain, color, and knots. These aren't flaws - they are time's signature, the fingerprint of a tree that lived for decades. When you touch a Ashdeco table, you're touching the years it stood through.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our pieces, commissions, and care.
How long does shipping take?
In Vietnam: 3-5 days. International: 10-14 days. Larger pieces (tables, cabinets) may take longer due to custom crating. All shipments include tracking and insurance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide. Shipping is calculated by weight + dimensions at checkout. You'll see the exact quote before paying.
How long does a commission take?
4-8 weeks depending on complexity. A 6-seater dining table takes ~6 weeks, a console cabinet ~4 weeks, a large sideboard ~8 weeks.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
50% deposit is required when you confirm sketches. The remaining 50% is due when the piece is finished, before shipping. Full refund within 48 hours of deposit if you change your mind.
How do I take care of my wood piece?
Wipe with a damp cloth — no chemicals. Apply wood oil 1-2 times per year (we include a starter bottle). Avoid direct sunlight and big humidity changes.
What if my piece develops cracks?
Wood expands and contracts with humidity — minor cracks are natural and part of the material. Major cracks within the first year: we fix free. After 1 year, we charge labor only.
Can I return a piece?
Ready-made pieces: 30-day returns (must arrive intact). Commissions: final sale (since they're custom-made for you). If anything arrives damaged, we'll repair or replace at no cost.
